Avoid cutting gum out of carpet that will show the missing section such as berber and loop pile carpet.
Get gum out of carpet mat.
Sponge the gum stain directly with cleaning fluid such as 409.
Allow it to crack and break into fragments and remove as much as possible.
To freeze the gum out of your carpet grab a few ice cubes from the freezer and place them in a zip loc bag.

Close and seal it tight to avoid leaking water as the ice melts.
Place the ice bag directly on the gum in your carpet and wait 5 10 minutes.
The juice in the wipe will break down the adhesive in the gum but for older gum it will take some time.
Use ice or a frozen bag of food to harden the gum and pull off fragments.
Step 3 soak the gum with oil by blotting it with the cloth.
Use a butter knife or metal spatula to scrape the frozen gum off the carpet.
Repeat this process until all of the gum is removed.
After this time the gum should be frozen enough and you can start breaking it out.
As a last resort you can cut out the gum on some carpet.
This will harden the gum so it s easier to remove gum from carpet.
Be careful not to overheat the area or it may burn the carpet fibers.
Make sure you cover the gum and all around the edges.
