Scrub the carpet with a clean soft bristled scrub brush.

For carpets couches or other areas that cannot be machine washed follow these steps. To get rid of wet carpet smell try using baking soda. Next soak another towel with a hydrogen peroxide based cleaner. Vodka is great for pet urine and other stubborn smells.

First manually soak up excess moisture with a towel. If it does then you may have to use a carpet steam cleaner. This vinegar based mix is also quite often usedto get rid of urine smell in a mattress. Then let the baking soda sit overnight before vacuuming it up.

Thoroughly spray your carpet with the mixture. If your carpet pad is soaked with urine then you may have to replace it to get rid of the smell. A cheap vodka variety is an excellent options for cleaning your carpets and getting rid of bad odor vodka kills bacteria and it can be used as a natural stain remover. Leave the towel and cleaner on the wet spot for 15 minutes.

Wipe away the remaining baking soda and blot the area dry. Alternatively you can mix equal parts warm water white vinegar and baking soda to make a cleaning solution. Cleaning and deodorizing carpets with vodka.
